When Sushil approached us about refreshing MuscleChef Café, the goal was bigger than simply replacing a few cabinets. He wanted to give the café a fresh identity — something that felt more like a modern bistro — while also making some practical changes behind the scenes to support the way the café needed to operate to open for evening dinner service.

We started by sitting down together and talking through how he wanted the space to look, feel and function. From there, we worked through a customer-led design process, developing the ideas together and refining the details into a practical plan for the revamp.

The front-of-house transformation focused on creating a cleaner, more contemporary café environment, while the operational side of the project included new storage cabinetry and upgrades to the commercial kitchen.

Rather than asking Sushil to coordinate multiple trades himself, we led the fit-out and managed the different pieces of the project through to completion. Alongside the cabinetry and fit-out work, we coordinated trusted subcontractors for the plumbing, electrical and commercial stainless-steel kitchen work.

Bringing everything together under one project meant we could keep the different elements working towards the same overall design while taking care of the practical details required to get the café back up and running.

The result is a clean, updated and more functional café environment that reflects Sushil's original vision — and gives MuscleChef a space that can comfortably transition from daytime café service into evening dining.

It's a great example of the way we like to approach fit-out projects: start with the customer's ideas, work through the possibilities together, and bring the right people and skills around the project to make it happen.
