A local builder approached us while working on a heritage home on the Kāpiti Coast. The house featured decorative timber fretwork at several of its gable points, and they needed a way to reproduce the existing design accurately across multiple replacements.

There wasn't a digital drawing to work from, so we started with a photograph of one of the existing pieces. From that reference, we recreated the shape digitally, refined the profile and developed a repeatable CNC cutting file.

Once everyone was happy with the profile, we nested the components across multiple sheets and CNC cut the fretwork from treated timber supplied to the builder's specification. This gave them a consistent set of matching pieces ready to be incorporated into the restoration work.

It's a good example of where CNC can be useful beyond simply cutting from a supplied file. If you've got an existing component, a sketch, a photograph or an idea, we can often work backwards from that to develop something that can be accurately reproduced.
