Porirua Pacific Collective came to us with a design concept for custom timber signage for their Porirua housing development, recognised as a winner in the Housing – Multi-Unit category at the 2026 NZIA Wellington Architecture Awards.

Working together, we took their initial concept and developed it into something that would work both visually and practically in solid timber. We built on the design, worked through a few iterations and refined the details ready for manufacture.

With the design sorted, we sourced local Macrocarpa for the sign, selected to complement the development and give the finished piece plenty of natural character. We prepared the timber in our Porirua workshop before CNC machining the lettering and design into the slab, completing the finishing work and delivering the finished sign.

The result brings together Porirua Pacific Collective's original idea, locally sourced timber and precision CNC machining to create a distinctive piece of signage specifically for the development.

It's the kind of project we really enjoy — starting with a customer's idea, working through the details together, and figuring out the best way to turn it into something real.
